Who we are
Founder University Japan is a pre-accelerator delivered by LAUNCH in partnership with JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization). LAUNCH operates this website and the founder portal and acts as the processor of participant information on JETRO's behalf for program delivery. Questions: privacy@launch.co.
Notice at collection — what we collect and why
- Application information (name, email, company, website, stage, pitch) — used to review and select participants.
- Program participation data (session attendance, feedback ratings and comments, weekly updates, traction metrics) — used to run the program and report aggregate outcomes to JETRO.
- Founder portal account data (name, email, company, profile photo, links, posts and comments) — used to give you access and to power the cohort board.
- Technical and usage data (IP address, user agent, pages viewed inside the portal) — used for security, abuse prevention and to improve the program.
We collect this information directly from you when you submit a form, sign in, or join a session. Providing it is voluntary, but some fields are required to apply or participate.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or share your personal information for advertising purposes.
- We do not run advertising or cross-site tracking pixels on this site, and we do not transmit applicant or participant information to advertising platforms.
- We do not combine confidential program information with data from other sources for purposes unrelated to running the program.
Who processes your information
We use the following subprocessors, each bound by written data-protection terms:
| Subprocessor | Purpose | Processing region |
|---|---|---|
| Lovable Cloud (Supabase) | Application database, authentication, file storage | United States |
| Cloudflare | Website and application hosting, edge delivery | Global edge network |
| Notion | Application review, company records, program operations | United States |
| Resend | Transactional and program email delivery | United States / EU |
| Zoom | Live sessions, attendance records, session recordings | United States |
| Google (Drive) | Storage of founder decks and session materials | United States |
| Wistia | Hosting of session recordings for the founder portal | United States |
Some of these providers process data outside Japan, including in the United States. Where that happens, transfers rely on the provider's standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.
How long we keep it
| Applications (leads, JETRO applications) | 24 months after the cohort closes |
| Session feedback and attendance | 24 months |
| Founder portal accounts and posts | Duration of the program, then on request |
| Portal and team activity logs | 12 months |
| Email lookup attempts (abuse prevention) | 90 days |
An automated job deletes records past these windows. Aggregate, non-identifying program statistics may be kept indefinitely for reporting.
Your rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or object to a particular use. Email privacy@launch.co from the address you gave us. We respond within 30 days and will confirm once erasure is complete across our systems and subprocessors.
Security and incidents
Access to participant data is restricted by role, all data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and administrative actions are logged. If a security incident affects your personal information, we notify affected individuals and JETRO without undue delay and no later than 72 hours after we become aware of it.
